Hailing from the religious hotbed of Colorado Springs, Colorado, the band Altars emerged as a product of their environment, with a distinct blend of musical aggression dovetailed with lyrical introspection. Formed in the summer of 2010, the group quickly hit the road to record their debut EP “Opposition” with producer Josh Schroeder, which was released on Strike First Records in 2011. After a successful release, Altars was invited to join the Facedown Records roster, and released two full-length albums: Conclusions in 2012, and Something More in 2013.

Early Tomb (UPCOMING)

Altars, driven by the unquenchable thirst for something more, continued to explore their sound and lyrical themes for many years following their latest release. The product of their years of work has culminated in the greatest expression of their abilities to date, presented in the eleven track album “Early Tomb”.

From front to back (and side to side), the album is an onslaught of musical and lyrical aggression that demands the listener to embark on a journey beyond their culture of embeddedness, and out to the other side.

Early Tomb singles

Four distinct singles (“Rebirth”, “Roadkill”, “Early Tomb”, and “World War Free”) embody the energy and raw emotion behind the upcoming full length album “Early Tomb”.

Each single carries a runic symbol.

A profound respect for life

After their time with Facedown Records, Altars was able to more freely express themselves on their independently released EP A Profound Respect for Life in 2015. Despite the EP only being available on Bandcamp, it was the band’s most successful release according to first-week metrics and continues to garner attention for the band to this day.
